- This General George S. Patton Jr. Issue stamp honors General George S. Patton Jr. and the Armed Forces of the United States Army. General Patton was a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Known for his colorful image and hard-driving personality, he was nicknamed “Old Blood and Guts.” Patton served as a commander, and played a major role, in the battles of Mediterranean and European Theaters. This stamp features a portrait of Patton, with tanks in a field as the background.
