- This Naval Aviation Issue stamp commemorates the 50th anniversary of the first flight performed as part of the United States Navy. The stamp features an image of the Navy’s first airplane, a Curtiss A-1. The A-1 was a hydro-aeroplane or seaplane, which means it can operate and lift off from land or water. The stamp also features an image of air wings insignia.
