- This Homemakers issue stamp commemorates the 50th anniversary of the passage of the Smith-Lever Act, which created cooperative extension services through the United States Department of Agriculture that helped improve home life. The stamp was issued in conjunction with the annual meeting of the National Extension Homemakers Council. The stamp features an image of a farm scene embroidery sampler.
