- This Mary Cassatt Issue stamp commemorated American painter, Mary Cassatt. Cassatt was born in Allegheny City, Pennsylvania in 1844, but spent most of her adult life in France. She is most closely associated with the Impressionist movement. Her subject matter typically focuses on the social and private lives of women and their families. The stamp features an image of Cassatt’s painting “The Boating Party.”
