Universal Postal Union Congress voting device
Object Details
- Description
- This voting device was used by the U.S. delegation during the 20th UPU Congress, held in Washington, D.C., in 1989. The black metal box, manufactured by International Roll-Call Corp., has a plastic cowl around five multicolored voting buttons with LED lights. The electrical cord is detached.
- The voting buttons are labeled in French ('oui' for yes and 'non' for no), the official language of the UPU. English was added as a working language of the International Bureau in 1994. Simultaneous interpretation is provided in several languages during Congresses and meetings of UPU bodies, and UPU documents and most publications are translated into Arabic, English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian.
