- Description
- On November 11, 1991, Vatican City issued a series of five stamps commemorating the journeys of Pope John Paul II during the year 1990. Eron Donnini designed the stamps.
- At the right side of each stamp appears an image of the pope in Episcopal robes imparting his blessing. On the left appear the date of the journey, the name of the country or countries visited, and one of the principal churches associated with each country. At the bottom appear the value and the words POSTE VATICANE.
- The 750-lire stamp commemorates the papal visit to Mexico and Curacao on May 6-14, 1990. The stamp depicts the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mexico City.
- The stamps are vertical, measure 30 x 40 mm with a perforation of 14 x 13 1/4. The Istituti Polygrafico e Zecco dello Stato Italiano printed 450,000 complete series on white chalky paper in multicolor recess and offset print. The Vatican issued the stamps in sheets of twenty.
