- Description
- The Postal Service honored Dwight David Eisenhower, thirty-fourth president of the United States and supreme commander of the Allied Expeditionary Forces during World War II, with a stamp issued October 13, 1990, in Abilene, Kansas. Based on the official White House portrait, the sepia-tone background depicts General Eisenhower speaking to Allied troops on the eve of D-Day, the Normandy invasion in 1944.
- Designed by Ken Hodges, the American Bank Note Company printed the stamps by the photogravure process with panes of forty.
