- Description
- The cover was sent by Clare Booth Luce from the American Embassy in Rome and was recovered from New York harbor following the Italian airline crash, 1954.
- A two-line stamped message in black ink, partially legible, "Damage Due To Airmail Inter??? Near N.Y. Int'l Airport Dec. 18(?), 1954", is stamped twice on a corner of the face. The circular city cancel, "Roma / Dec 16 1954", is also on the cover face along with the metered rate (515 l.) in Italian lira.
