- Description
- 8 December 1849 folded letter from Havana, Cuba to Paris carried 'out of the mails' to an agent in Birmingham, England. Forwarding agent (Van Wart) posted letter unpaid to Paris on December 31, 1849. Letter arrived at London on January 1 and at Paris on January 2, 1850, having entered France at Calais. At Paris the letter was marked in the upper left corner for a weight of 15 grams and requiring three 8 decimes = 24 decimes postage due.
