- Description
- The Postal Service issued a nondenominated, nonprofit Mountain stamp (5 cents) on March 16, 1996, at the Philatelic Fiesta in San Jose, California.
- Designed by Tom Engeman of Carbondale, Colorado, the stamp features a beautiful mountain scene with "USA NONPROFIT ORG." appearing on the bottom of the design. Engeman also designed the Butte stamp (1995) and the Smithsonian Institution stamp (1996).
- The stamp was issued in coils of 500, 3,000, and 10,000. The coils of 500 and 3000 were printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in the gravure process. Stamp Venturers, Inc. produced the coils of 10,000 also on the gravure press.
- The Mountain stamp was reissued on January 24, 1997, in Tucson, Arizona, in conjunction with the ARIPEX Stamp Show. The stamps were printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing on the gravure press.
