- The Postal Service issued the Space Shuttle Piggyback $11.75 definitive express mail stamp on November 19, 1998, in New York, New York. A ceremony was held in conjunction with the first day of the Postage Stamp Mega Event.
- Designed by Phil Jordan of Falls Church, Virginia, the stamp was printed by the Banknote Corporation of America in the offset process.
