- On Sunday morning, December 7, 1941, the Japanese treacherously and without warning, while peaceful negotiations were in progress, attacked Pearl Harbor by sea and air.
- From an aerial perspective Pearl Harbor on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, erupts with explosions in this colorful cachet published by The Advertisers Press of Des Moines, Iowa. The cover was sent under Free Franking from the Army Music School at Fort Meyer in Arlington, Virginia, on December 11, 1942 -- a year after the attack. There is a letter (2002.2035.10.2) associated with this object.
