- "Today--More Than Ever--And That Government of the People, by the People, for the People, Shall Not Perish From the Earth. From Lincoln's Gettysburg Address"
- This phrase from Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address was apropos in the fight against Fascism. The serviceman's cover was sent under Free Franking from Fort Michie, New York via New London, Connecticut. Postmarked New London, Connecticut, October 6, 1942. Though it lacks the usual initials J. M. on the face of the cover, this cachet was published by Jacques Minkus of New York City.
