10c Washington Valentine cover
Object Details
- Description
- This is a spectacular printed Valentine envelope mailed at Potsdam NY on February 8 of an unknown year. Since it traveled a very short distance to West Potsdam, the need for a 10¢ stamp was not distance but rather weight, being more than one-half ounce and less than one ounce. The 10¢ stamp thus pays a double weight rate of less than 300 miles. The enclosed Valentine is an elaborate multicolor design and a ribbon, with a handwritten verse.
- This is the only known 10¢ cover from Potsdam.
