- Description
- This cover, bearing a 10¢ lower left diagonal bisect, entered the mails at Gardiner ME on May 5, 1851. It is addressed to Mrs. George Evans by her husband. The one-half of a 10¢ stamp prepaid the 5¢ single rate for a letter traveling less than 300 miles. There are 15 known covers in this correspondence, dated between April 26, 1851 and May 26, 1851.
