1c Franklin type III single
Object Details
- Description
- 1-cent used, perforate single. "C" relief from plate 4, Type III, position 67R4 (horizontal line visible on the shoulder that belongs to this position,
- although not shown in the Neinken book).
- Type III is one of the scarcer types of the perforated 1857 1-cent issue.
- The side ornaments are essentially complete (which helps differentiate this
- from the very common Type V, that everyone hopes is a Type III). This stamp
- shows a small break in the top line and a wide break in the bottom line.
