Object Details
- Description
- Letter carriers used this type of auxiliary marking when they detected an erroneous or incomplete address. Addressees were notified so they could update their address files with the correct information. The exact date of use is difficult to determine because postmasters procured this type of handstamp from a variety of sources; additionally, the wording, font size, and typeface vary on stamps used in a similar manner.
