- Description
- On September 30, 1976, The Vatican issued a series of stamps to commemorate Christ's transfiguration. The six stamps depict details from "Transfiguration" by Raphael, which hangs in the Vatican Museum.
- Each stamp carries "TRANSFIGURAZIONE" at the top and "POSTE VATICANE" at the bottom. The 150-lire stamp depicts a group of relatives of the possessed person gathered together with two women. The Italian State Polygraphic Institute printed the stamps vertically in sheets of forty. They measure 30 x 40 mm and have perforations of 13 1/4 x 14. The rotogravure process was used, and 1,350,000 sets were printed.
