Object Details
- Description
- On February 3, 2010, in Washington, DC, the Postal Service issued a 4.90-dollar Mackinac Bridge Priority Mail definitive stamp.
- Carl T. Herrman of North Las Vegas, Nevada, designed the stamp. Dan Cosgrove of Clarendon Hills, Illinois, used several panoramic photographs of the Mackinac Bridge to create the stamp artwork, which features seagulls flying around the two towers and a large ship passing beneath. This is one of several designs that the artist has produced for the Postal Service.
- Avery Dennison printed 40 million stamps using the gravure process. The stamps were issued in a pressure-sensitive adhesive pane of twenty.
