Object Details
- Description
- The seven stamp albums assembled by Dr. Sally Ride (1951-2012), astronaut and scientist, include connections between collecting, hobbies, pastimes, and career. Ride’s interest in philately began at the age of nine and she continued her commitment to her collection throughout her life, acquiring material with personal and professional relevance such as the Olympic Games and space. Her collection includes stamps that commemorate her achievements. The United States issued a stamp with her portrait in 2018 (not included in her stamp albums). This cover was not included in the albums, but is part of Dr. Ride's philatelic collection.
