Summary
Standing portrait of Schiller dressed in a long double-breasted coat, a buttoned double-breasted vest, a ruffle-necked shirt, and knee britches. His long curly hair is pulled back and he stands with his head facing to his proper left and with his proper right leg forward. His proper left arm rests against a tree stump. His proper right arm is bent and rests at his waist. In his proper right hand he holds a book. On the base just below the sculpture, there are three plaques. The front plaque contains a relief of a female seated on a tree branch. She holds a lute in her proper left hand and rests her proper right hand in her lap. There is a swan in the upper right corner. The back plaque contains a relief of a winged male holding a torch in his proper right hand and a scroll in his proper left hand. The third plaque, on the left side of the base, contains a relief of a female figure seated on a tree branch. She rests her proper left hand on shield and her proper right hand on a broken sword.
