- Notes
- Save Outdoor Sculpture, Virginia survey, 1995.
- Summary
- A mausoleum with a female angel on the peaked facade. The mausoleum is in the side of a hill, with its roof at ground level, and a sloped, submerged courtyard in front with flanking walls. The angel stands overlooking the courtyard wearing windswept, sleeveless robes. Her proper left hand is uplifted and once held an object, and a trumpet is by her side in her proper right hand. She stands on a swirl of clouds, with inscriptions on the facade below her. On the lower section of mausoleum facade is a decorative frontispiece with an arched doorway. Within the courtyard are a fountain, two wide chairs, a planter, and a small sculpture of two cherubs. The mausoleum and courtyard are enclosed by an iron fence with concrete posts. The mausoleum is for J. W. Davies.
