- Summary
- At the top of a tall shaft a Civil War soldier stands erect with his arms crossed in front holding his rifle, which rests butt to the ground. He wears a mustache and a brimmed hat is upon his head. A canteen is strapped over his proper right shoulder and across his torso, resting at his proper left hip. A binocular case hangs from his proper right shoulder close to his proper right side. The sculpture is mounted on a shaft with shorter bands of stone alternating with taller blocks of stone. A pair of crossed swords with a bugle hanging from them appears in relief on the bottom front of the shaft. The shaft is mounted on a square base with a stepped bottom.
