- On photo mount label: H. Augur. Portrait bust of Oliver Ellsworth, chief justice of the Supreme Court of the United States (1745-1807). marble. Washington, D.C., Supreme Court Building. Gift of Charles E. Fairman. Classification Number: 282/A922/690. Accession: 101989. (Lantern slide:) E50742.
- The bust was commissioned by the Joint Committee on the Library, 1834 and accepted in 1837. It is located in room S-141, which served as the Old Supreme Court Chamber from 1809-1860.
