- Summary
- Smithsonian Secretary S. Dillon Ripley comments on education as being a "trade-school" experience, where students learn skills so they can survive in a competitive world. Ripley foils this to rational and irrational thought, which is at odds with students and educaton. Ripley criticizes trade school education and questions whether or not students are actually gaining knowledge.
