- Alexander Wetmore, sixth Smithsonian Secretary and ornithologist, and Henri Pittier, in Ocumare de la Costa, Venezuela, 24 October 1937. Pittier was a Swiss-born geographer and botanist, who dedicated many years to the scientific study of Venezuela and began the Venezuelan National Park history.
