- Dr. Donald J. Ortner, a physical anthropologist in the National Museum of Natural History, is examining a skull. He is studying 500 unusual pathological skeletons in the Smithsonian's collection. Information on selected disease patterns is being computerized in a project funded by the National Institute of Arthritis, Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.
