SCNHRB c.1 bound in contemporary mottled calf, with triple gilt fillets at outer edges; gilt tooled spine with raised bands; marbled endpapers and edges.
SCNHRB c.2 (39088011699063) has bookplate: Smithsonian Institution Libraries. Gift of Dr. Frederick M. Bayer; with his monogram stamp on t.p. and last leaf.
SCNHRB c.2 has inscribed on front free endpaper: Girtanner 823.b (II.60.a); unidentified property stamp on t.p.
SCNHRB c.2 originally had laid-in by Bayer: Ischikawa, C. Trembley's Umkehrungsversuche an Hydra nach neuen Versuchen erklärt. Leipzig : W. Engelmann, 1890.
