SCNHRB c.1 (v.1, 39088009318668; v.2, 39088009318759) has plates without coloring and with brief letterpress captions that are not found in SCNHRB c.2 nor in the CHMRB copy.
SCNHRB c.1 has stamp: Smithsonian Institution National Museum; accession no. 219969.
SCNHRB c.1 has plate LVII misbound between plates LVIII and LIX; also plate LXXV is misbound between plates LXXVI and LXXVII.
SCNHRB c.1 has later red half-leather binding with faux marbled-paper boards and endpapers; raised bands; and gilt-lettered spine.
SCNHRB c.1 and c.2 (v.1, 39088009331703; v.2, 39088009318734) have bookplate: Ex libris William Healey Dall, Division of Mollusks Sectional Library.
SCNHRB c.2 has later red embossed cloth binding with gilt-lettered spine; a printed label on front paste-down endpaper reads: This book was bound through the generosity of the National Capital Shell Club.
CHMRB copy (v.1, 39088009318544; v.2, 39088009318445) is a bequest from Robert W. Chanler, 1933.
CHMRB copy has accession nos.: (v.1), 9163; (v.2), 9164.
