SCNHRB c. 1 has [1] p. of typed index of bird species tipped-in before t.p.
SCNHRB c. 1 is bound in green half-leather with marbled paper boards, raised bands, gilt-tooled spine, and marbled endpapers and edges. Housed in an archival paperboard box for preservation.
SCNHRB c. 2 (39088013118625; QL71.B5 A2v 1823) is imperfect: the first 4 leaves are torn and repaired, with the loss of imprint information on the t.p. and some text.
SCNHRB c. 2 is bound in black half-leather with marbled paper boards, gilt-tooled spine, and marbled endpapers and edges.
SCNHRB c. 3 (not barcoded; QL71.B5A2X 1816) is the eleventh item in a volume containing thirteen pamphlets, bound together subsequent to publication.
SCNHRB c. 3 has stamp on t.p.: S.F. Baird. There is an inscription in ms. ink, mostly trimmed away, to an unidentified person from H. [Lichtenstein] on upper right corner of t.p. The leaf of plates is damaged and partially torn along the right side.
SCNHRB c. 3 has bookplates: 1. Library of Congress (Smithsonian Deposit), United States; 2. Smithsonian Institution Libraries. Preservation supported by the Smithsonian Women's Committee.
SCNHRB c. 3 has a later marbled paperboard binding with brown cloth corners and a gilt-tooled spine. A Smithsonian Institution stamp appears at the foot of the spine. Housed in an archival paperboard box for preservation.
