The "Descriptions" (pages 53-131) comprise 39 full page engravings by Nicolas Robert and Abraham Bosse with explanatory letter-press on opposite pages.
Colophon reads: A Paris : De l'Imprimerie royale, par Sebastien Mabre-Cramoisy, directeur de la dite imprimerie, M.DC.LXXV.
Errata: page 131.
The frontispiece is signed: S. Le Clerc in. et f. It depicts a meeting of the Académie royale des sciences at the royal library at Versailles.

SCDIRB copy 39088006024798 has bookplate: Burndy Library, gift of Barbara D. Dibner; Herald of Science no. 84.
SCDIRB copy has a gilt-stamped red morocco leather binding with all edges gilt. The covers have gilt-stamped borders in a Greek key design, and an armorial device with the motto of the Order of the Garter ("Honi soit qui mal y pense"), identified in pencil on the front free endpaper as the arms of the Duke of Newcastle, possibly Henry Fiennes Clinton, 2nd Duke of Newcastle, who became a Knight of the Garter in 1752.
