Naturgeschichte der Vögel deutschlands in getreuen Abbildungen und Beschreibungen / von Iohann Wolf und Bernhard Meyer

Object Details

Notes
German and French.
Added t.p. in French, which reads: Histoire naturelle des oiseaux de l'allemagne, représentés d'après nature et décrits par Jean Wolf et par Bernard Meyer. Nuremberg : I.F. Frauenholz, 1805.
Issued in 29 parts, each having six plates with their text. A thirtieth part was in preparation, and others projected, in January, 1821. Hefte 1-15 constitute the first Band. The text to Hefte 1-7 was written by Wolf alone. See BM (Nat. hist.), v. 5, p. 2348.
The plates were illustrated by A. Gabler, J.M. Hergenroeder, and Stoelzner. The engravers included Gabler, J.C. Bock, and Dieterich.
Errors in paging: p. 123-130 (Bd. 1) and p. 91-92 (Bd. 2) were apparently omitted by the printer, with no loss of text.
"For a list of the contents of the parts, see note by Wolf in 'Isis,' Bd. VIII, 1821, Beylage No. 4. This list differs somewhat from the actual contents of the volumes, and the published list of the plates in Vol. 1" --BM (Nat. hist.), v. 5, p. 2348.
Nissen, C. Illustrierte Vogelbücher, 1007.
Ripley & Scribner. Ornith. books in Yale, p. 314-315.
Also available online.
