- Description
- Manuel Ramirez (Otoe-Missouria), a student of the College of Contemporary Native Arts at Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) in Santa Fe, New Mexico, is a Studio Arts major who discovered the personal significance of how a museum’s collections and art is able to reconnect people to people over long distances and time. Manuel found the value of NMAI’s collection of Otoe-Missouria cultural material is able to reconnect him culturally and personally after living apart from his tribal community. Manuel came to the NMAI Cultural Resources Center as part of an NMAI-IAIA project within the larger Artist Leadership Program to bring IAIA students to the museum to do independent student and a student presentation.
