- The Lockheed U-2C is one of only a handful of aircraft that has served more than 50 years and continues to serve in U.S. military missions to this day. The aircraft was designed—from pilot suit to fuel—for high-altitude reconnaissance missions, out of the reach of many air defense systems. Currently, our modern satellites are unable to do the same amount of tasks in the time and precision of the versatile U-2C.
