During the summer of 2023, the museum welcomed artist John Parra. Together they examined a collection of themes illustrated in his original stamp designs and illustrations, and explored creative thinking and problem solving. Highlighting John’s design process, his artistic inspirations, or his interest in examining Hispanic heritage on postage stamps, these programs were of interest to a variety of art lovers!
Throughout the summer of 2022, the National Postal Museum collaborated with stamp artist Rafael López to examine a collection of themes illustrated in his original stamp designs. López used his time as the museum's first Guest Artist to highlight topics with program participants such as the historic lack of representation on stamps, the realities of living with disabilities or physical challenges, and the importance of perseverance. As part of his work with the National Postal Museum, López created three Learning Lab collections that showcase portraits of Latinx individuals he completed for the National Museum of the American Latino.
