Lockheed Constellations L-049s

Fig. 24: On 7 April 1953, Cubana purchased three pressurized Lockheed Constellations (L-049s) from Pan American, and put them into service on 15 June 1953 on the trans-Atlantic route to Madrid. By the following year, Pan American’s shareholding was eliminated, and Super Constellations (L-1049Ex) were showing Cuba’s flag as the airline became firmly established in the international airline world.
