George W. Brett devoted his life to researching and writing about United States stamp production, thus becoming one of the nation’s experts on that topic. For over sixty years, his groundbreaking research on topics ranging from the first 1847 issue to present-day issues guided philatelic discussions countrywide. He wrote over five hundred reports and articles in addition to the book The Giori Press, 1961, Printing Methods and Techniques, published in 1985.

This symposium honored George W. Brett’s achievements and addressed his legacy. Presenters included Roger Brody, Rodney A. Juell, James Kloetzel, Cheryl R. Ganz, Michael Plett, Richard D. Bates, Daniel A. Piazza, Steven J. Rod, and Thomas Lera.
