Frederick Robinson died tragically on September 27, 1920 while flying from Hazelhurst Field, New York, to Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. Robinson flew over the Susquehanna River at low altitude under fog, using the river as a guide. Near Millersburg, Pennsylvania, Robinson was flying low enough that his landing gear struck wires over the river. The wires hurled his airplane tail first into the shallow water, mortally wounding the pilot.
