Why I Joined
I was in the military and I’ve always tried to get on before I went into the military because it’s a good job, I figured, for a career. I always worked in factories and such, when I was a single parent with three kids. I wanted a steady job with good benefits that was secure and all that, but I went into the Army. I tried several times to get into the Post Office, but I went into the Army because that was solid. Three kids working at plants, working day to day you don’t know if the plant is going to close or what’s going to happen, maybe layoffs. I knew I needed a new job that I knew I would be secure in, so I went into the Army and then when I got out of the Army, they would take veterans preference, and I had a good chance and with my good score (I also had a disability and with that my score was 105) so I got into the Post Office and I love it. I love my job.
