Nixie Mail
Other
The mail service was a little different in those days. You could mail a letter almost anywhere in the country and it didn’t have to have a proper address and somebody would make sure it got delivered. We used to have an individual who worked what we called the Nixie mail, and he had a world of knowledge about the railroad crossings, hilltops, elevators, (at least in our area) where if it at least mentioned something about a certain area he’d make sure it got delivered. And that was the mail service in those days.
