Mechanization Changed Things
Other
Early on everyone got along because everyone was doing the same thing. As mechanization moved in and automation moved in, you would let people into certain areas. We had mechanized machines where you were literally strapped to the machine. It got to the mechanized part and the machine would put a letter in front of you and you had a second or two to push certain keys to make it sort. And that machine didn’t wait for you to scratch your nose or say hi to Joe or anything else, it would hit down there and you had to do it, so it began to change. Of course, with automation, that was the final step, automation was doing it all and you would run around picking up after it. It was quite the transition.
