Union Career
Career Summary
I never planned to stay and as a PTF, the president and another steward asked me to be a union steward and I didn’t know what that was about and I was like alright, I’ll do it, and since I was paying union dues since day one, I went to the union meetings because I wanted to know what I was paying for. They asked me to run for some offices, so the first thing I did was a trustee, and then I was a steward for the Maintenance Department, the Clerk Craft Department, and the Motor Vehicle Department. All three when I first became the steward. I didn’t even know there was a Motor Vehicle Department. I didn’t know anything at all. I had really good trainers and I became so active in the Union and then I later became Vice President at least a couple of terms. I was Motor Vehicle and Clerk Craft Director for at least a year while our Motor Vehicle Director was off work on medical leave. I was doing both positions there for awhile. I am currently Clerk Craft Director and I’ve done that for a long time too.
