Social and Cultural Space Collection
The Social and Cultural Dimensions of Spaceflight Collection (a sampling of which is available online here) includes over 4500 individual pieces of space memorabilia and space science fiction objects, including toys and games, clothing and stamps, medals and awards, and buttons and pins, as well as comics and trading cards. There are one-of-a-kind objects, such as studio models made for film and television productions or commemorative objects given to individual astronauts. There are also everyday objects: commercially-produced mission patches, boxed model kits, or mass-produced memorabilia. Together, these mementos of the space age complete the story about spaceflight told by the Museum's collection of space hardware and technologies.
