Object Details
- Description
- Large dish with upcurved edge and plain rim.
- Clay: porcelain, grayish white with some dark impurities.
- Glaze: transparent, slightly greenish cast. Footrim unglazed and rough, some small chips.
- Decoration: in underglaze cobalt, dark blue outline filled with three shades of blue wash, details in dark blue. On front, two large full-blown peony blossoms to left and moss-covered rock to right, partially obscured by bands of conventionalized mist. On back, two variations of cash design, repeated in alternation four times each.
- Inscriptions
- Mark: false Ming dynasty Chenghua era (1465-87) six-character mark on base.
