- Pin made out of three United States Army staff buttons taken from the frock coat worn by Union Army General William Tecumseh Sherman on his 1864 Savannah Campaign, popularly known as the "March to the Sea." An inscription engraved on the back of the center button reads "Worn by / Genl. W.T. Sherman / on the / March to the / Sea."
