Gelber Hund 1912 Rhein-Main Flight
Object Details
- Description
- Souvenir orange postcard posted in Darmstadt, Germany, on June 19, 1912, and carried by the airmail plane Gelber Hund (Yellow Dog). Although the bulk of the mail for these airmail demonstrations was carried by the airship Schwaben, the Gelber Hund also transported some mail. In addition to the 5 pfennig Germania stamp (inland postcard rate) the card also bears the special semi-official 10 pfennig airmail stamp overprinted "1 Mark" and "Gelber Hund," here with the error "Huna" instead of "Hund" (Michel IVF). Both stamps are tied by the special Flugpost am Rhein u. am Main postmark.
