Graf Zeppelin Test Flight postcard
Object Details
- Description
- The Graf Zeppelin flew a test flight on Friday, February 22, 1929, with a mail drop over Romanshorn, Switzerland. This postcard shows a postmark from Romanshorn, February 25, 1929, because the card was not cancelled until the post office reopened on Monday. The color postcard, issued for the Zeppelin Eckener Spende fundraising effort, was without postage and therefore received the postage due markings of a "T" and manuscript "35." The card is signed "Albert," and was from the steward Albert Lehmann.
