- Description
- Cover dispatched from Japan and carried by the LZ127 Graf Zeppelin from Tokyo to Lakehurst on its 1929 world flight. The letter bears the special cachet "First Round-The-World Flight by Graf Zeppelin / Tokio. O.P.O 1929" in red. Postage has been affixed with Japanese stamps on both sides of the cover in the amount of Y3.10, the correct letter-rate from Tokyo to Lakehurst. The stamps are tied with a Tokyo postmark dated August 21, 1929. The reverse side of the cover also bears a special "Graf Zeppelin Round the World Flight" receiver postmark from Lakehurst, New Jersey, dated August 29, 1929.
