Graf Zeppelin Swiss Flight postcard
Object Details
- Description
- On its fourth flight over Switzerland in 1929, the LZ127 Graf Zeppelin dropped this postcard over Zurich. The German postage of 15 pfg for the international postcard rate was tied by the zeppelin's onboard postmark. In addition, the Swiss postage was tied by the post office at the drop site of the Zurich airfield. The 35 Rappen in postage overpaid the airmail service from Switzerland to Germany by 15 Rappen because the fee was 20 Rappen for airmail service. The card was flown from Zurich to Stuttgart by regular airmail the next morning.
