Graf Zeppelin Spain Flight cover
Object Details
- Description
- Letter carried by the LZ127 Graf Zeppelin on its October 23-24, 1929, flight to Spain. The letter was franked with a one Reichsmark German airmail stamp that is tied by an October 23, 1929, onboard postmark. The letter also bears a special onboard postmark, "On Bord des Luftschiffes Graf Zeppelin 23. Okt. 1929" ("On board the airship Graf Zeppelin October 23, 1929"), in red. A private blue cachet confirms that this letter was carried on the "Spanienfahrt" ("Spain flight"). The letter was dropped over Barcelona and received a Paris Gare du Nord transit postmark dated October 25, 1929, enroute to its final destination in Germany.
